Singh had the distinction of being the Editor of an only-poetry journal in Maithili – Maithili Kabita (1968-72), Chief Editor of Indian Linguistics, Journal of the Linguistic Society of India, 1988-1990, Editor (with P.P.Giridhar, CIIL-Mysore as Co-Editor) of Translation Today, 2004-2009, besides being the Series Editor (Jointly with Probal Dasgupta, ISI-Kolkata) of eight books under Language and Development (LAD) under Sage India, Chief Editor of a Bilingual Professional Magazine titled Mithila Darshan, 2008 onwards, and the General Editor of Longman-CIIL Series of eleven Bilingual Dictionaries. He is also the Co-Editor of International Journal of Inter-Cultural Relations; 2008-onwards.
